Rt. Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde, bishop and spiritual leader of 98 congregations and schools in Washington DC and Maryland, made history today. The internet spread tales of her bravery far and wide.  

Bishop Budde’s brave actions exemplify showing up for good. She spoke from her heart with love and compassion. She spoke for those among us who are most easily hurt, and those among us who are in immediate danger. She spoke of mercy and empathy. She spoke of protecting and appreciating all people, no matter where they come from, nor how they identify. She spoke for humanity. She spoke for love. She spoke for the sake of goodness, acceptance, and tolerance. And as her book likely teaches, she did it in a very decisive moment in life and faith ❤

All of us need to speak up loudly and proudly for goodness.

Don’t be afraid to say it.

Stay loud.

We need to follow Bishop Budde’s example. We need to proudly and bravely love.
