Showupforgood enjoyed spending the weekend at the Sloan’s Lake Bazaar. This was our first event in a fully public setting, and it was incredibly special. We had so many valuable conversations and loved engaging with all of the wonderful people who stopped by our booth.
We overheard comments such as, “I have never thought about it that way,” “This is so cool,” “Thank you for doing this,” and “This is needed in the world.” We fielded questions about our organization, why we’re doing what we’re doing, and what we hope to do in the future.
We shared hope. We connected. We felt a sense of community in our little 10x10 space of color and conversation. Our hearts are full, and we are energized.
Our project is discovering the following
People are exhausted from social media, life on their phones, and a disconnected world
People are hungry for connection, introspection, and community
People value and wish to participate in authentic communication
People enjoyed reading responses to questions from the public, even if they disagreed with answers submitted by others
People enjoyed adding their thoughts to our boards - each human brings a unique perspective
Joy can be found in connection and in shared experience
Children felt valued and enjoyed participating in the interactive walls
We are having a blast experimenting with conversation. We know it won’t always be easy, as part of our vision is to tackle tough conversations, learn about how to deliver and listen better, and find common ground. But this weekend we felt nothing but good vibes, kindness, and grateful hearts. Thank you so much for being here.
With hope for the future - Jackie and Tori 🩵
