Love Loudly

Updated: Feb 23

1/25/25

Each day we wake to more shocking and upsetting news. Each day we read comments from our loving communities asking, “What can we do?” Today a comment from Kayla asking, “Any groups emerging this week that have actionable items for us to do?”

If my magic wand was working to its full potential, it would swish across the entire planet and bring loving voices together as one. It would send a united message, an answer to Kayla. It would tell Kayla that today and tomorrow and next week, there is a plan in place for ALL OF US to take action, show up, and make our voices heard.

Part of the tricky piece of all of this madness is that we scroll and scroll and scroll, looking for connection, for inspiration, for knowledge. We seek understanding and community. We seek hope and guidance. What can we do? What actionable items will work? How can we make our voices heard? How and when will our actions matter? What can we do with what we have, where we are?

As suggested by many, we can contact our congresspeople; we can shop at Costco to show our support for marginalized communities; we can now avoid Target due to their decision to step back from supporting marginalized communities. We can send letters of gratitude and support to Bishop Budde. We can donate to organizations. We can read each other’s posts, stay informed by reading trusted sources, and do our best to stay sane in the midst of a rapidly-changing world.

Please make sure you’re signed up for Redwine.blue and TroubleNation, the most organized group of change-makers I've encountered so far. These amazing humans are a significant part of  the reason Heather Cox Richardson has hope, they are the reason I saw Kayla’s post. These organizations have quite effective action plans in place, and they are working together. Their magic wands are in full swing and we should all be supporting their efforts.

To make our voices heard and to show resistance, we also need a unified voice, a unified and simple action plan. We need a centralized go-to. What if Kayla had a place to go to find out what unified action is happening today? What if by checking in on a unified calendar she was able to know that today she should simply wear purple to show solidarity, and what if she felt like that was something to be doing where she is, with what she has? And what if that was an effective message to the world? What if we were all showing up as a unified community every day?

(Update as of February 2025 - The 50501 Movement has suddenly taken the world by storm. ❤️ Please support them, attend protests, and engage. Kayla! Here it is!)

One day, if all of our magic wands are working, we will truly show power in numbers. We will be a unified voice for goodness and love and progress and inclusion.

Showupforgood has just recently launched. It is brand new. I’m trying my damndist to learn website-building and the ins and outs of technological tools. I am holding my little magic wand with hope. I am cutting out hearts and sharing them (see Wear a Heart campaign ❤). I am building a calendar of unified actions…please send me your ideas. I will use them.

I envision a world in which we unite around love and kindness, and a world in which countless numbers of humans are proud to show up for good. I envision a world in which we love loudly, proudly, and unified.

There are more of us.

Please reach out. Join our mailing list. Check back often, and bring your magic wand. We will need all of the magic we can find.
